Bishopston Community Council

Bishopston Community Council was established in 1982 and consists of 14 unpaid Community Councillors, covering the Bishopston and Murton Wards, and one paid Clerk to carry out the administrative work.

The main Council normally meets on the last Monday and the recreational facilities committee meets on the 2nd Monday of each month in the community centre at 7.30 pm (except August).

The Community Council owns an area of around 25 acres of land on the eastern edge of the village, and within the Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Within this area it has provided a community centre, playing fields with football and cricket pitches, a children’s play area and a car park, and we are the only Community Council that has its own Community Bus service which provides a bus service to the local community on Wednesday and Friday from Bishopston and Murton to Mumbles and return.

On the opposite side of the village the Community Council also owns and maintains,
Bishopston Nursery park and playground off Bishopston Rd and Wellfield.
